The Peugeot 206 started its competitive life in WRC in 2000 and incredibly took the constructors title for the following 3 years. It is a very compact machine and is driven by a 2 litre turbo charged engine and 4WD with a longitudinal transmission. It has electronically controlled active differentials in the front, centre and rear of the car. The 2003 season saw the car change its livery from the silver of previous seasons to a striking bright red in-line with their new main sponsor Marlboro. There were improvements made to the active anti-roll bar which utilizes electronically controlled hydraulics to limit the roll of the car during cornering.
The team also employed the last two WRC World Champions as its drivers, current WRC champion Marcus Grönholm and 2001 WRC champion the late Richard Burns. 2003 did not bring any silverware to Peugeot as Burns finished 4th and Grönholm 6th with Peugeot taking 2nd in the Manufacturers table.

The car I have built is the number 2 car driver by Richard Burns, along with the Subaru Imprezza this forms the 2nd half of my tribute to 3 British WRC heroes who have been lost over recent years.

The car was essentially built almost 'out of the box' however I used the Crazy Modeler detail set which was superb and added some excellent details and improved upon some existing parts. Unfortunately the Tamiya kit is extremely inaccurate in terms of depciting the actual car which is a shame.
