In 1982, regulations in World Endurance Racing were changed and it became known as the Group C racing class. Porsche created the 956 in the same year specifically for this class, later modifying this highly successful car to comply with American IMSA regulations and renaming it the 962.

In 1985 Porsche unveiled a further improved 962 which complied with additional revisions to world endurance racing regulations. This new car was named the 962C. Since then, this highly sophisticated car has undergone many subtle changes and but continues to be a top machine. It has won praise from numerous racing teams all over the world for its exceptional reliability at the track.

Many private teams selected the Porsche 962C as their entry to vie for the 1989 World Sports Prototype Championship. One of the these teams was the Joest team of Germany adn was regularly competed following the Porsche Works' withdrawal from Group C racing. Throughout the season, the Joest team demonstrated tremendous potential using their updated 962C car finishing second to the all conquering Sauber-Mercedes.

The car I have built is essentially a curbside kit (which means it has no engine detail). However it does have the rear end of the motor included which is predominantly the transmission tunnel and I have added a few further details to that.
The cockpit has had further details added such as better cabling and hoses from the fire extinguisher, electrical box and fluid reservoirs, I have also added texture to the seat and the top of the dashboard.
