The ever increasing To-Do Pile!

As with most automotive modelers these days, I have my fair share when it comes to kits in the 'To-Do' pile.
It is however a dilemna for some of us wether or not to build these kits as more often than not they are worth more 'unbuilt', I find the latter sad to be honest, a model kit is a box full of pieces that when put together with a little care and patience will always give someone infinately more pleasure than having it sat in the bottom of the wardrobe gathering dust waiting for the day when it sells for a few extra pounds than you paid for it.
I am fortunate enough to have been able to collect the vast majority of my kits some years ago now and have therefore been able to sit back and watch the 'plain stupid' prices that some kits are commanding these days, especially the spiralling costs of detail sets.
Even if money was no object I would not subscribe to the point of view - 'I must have it at all costs' attitude and I still believe I have a realistic view of what and what not to pay when it comes to buying new these days.
Unfortunately due to the culture these days in the world of licensing, motorsport kits appear few and far between. There is a massive difference in opinion as to the reasons behind this, safe to say that you can bet your 1/12 Tamiya McLaren M23 that money and the amount sponsors, teams and drivers want these days will be the main reason behind it, utterly sad but true.
This had led to a number of smaller modeling manufacturers coming to the fore and trying their hand at smaller run kits. These have mainly been produced in Mixed Media formats. This means that the main body of the car is usually resin, there is a quantity of while metal parts, usually an etch set and obviously decals in the kit. Again there is a vast difference in quality between some manufacturers and currently some of the best kits are being made by the company Model Factory Hiro. Unfortunately their releases are, in my opinion, vastly overpriced and you would get very little change from £130-£150, which for a model kit of 1/20 scale I find staggering. Even more unbelievable to me there are people who are willing to pay it too, wether or not these kits actually get built or not is another thing!
So anyway, that has got to be enough waffling from me, onto the kits waiting in the wings starting with my WRC or Rally models;
